Nicoletta Cascelli (ESR7) just published her first PhD work in ChemSusChem

The focus of the work is the optimization of the green and selective oxidation of furfuryl alcohol into furfural by means of laccases with the aid of mediators. She also combined the oxidative step with the amination of the reaction intermediate, achieving furfuryl amine in a one-pot sequential approach. The research work was done in collaboration between the University of Oviedo (Oviedo, Spain) and BioPox (Napoli, Italy).
